Gestalt Psychotherapy

Gestalt Psychotherapy focuses on what is happening in the here and now between the therapist and the client as you explore the difficulties you are experiencing in your everyday life.

We are all made up of many parts and have adapted to function in the world in which we find ourselves. These adaptations may serve us well or they may be inhibiting our emotional development. Together, we will explore these adaptations or coping strategies to see what is still working for you, or not, in your current situation.

Gestalt is also made up of many parts. Primarily it is about raising awareness of how and who you are being with me and with others. Together we will explore how your body is supporting you, or not, as you cope with everyday challenges and how you may have learned to avoid or adapt how you make contact with others. I may suggest that we work imaginatively to explore how it might be to do things differently. The overall goal is to get to know yourself better and in so doing learn to accept all of the parts of yourself and let go of the parts that no longer serve you.

The Gestalt Prayer

"I do my thing and you do your thing
I am not in this world to
live up to your expectations,
and you are not in this world to
live up to mine.
You are you
and I am I
and if by chance we find each other,
it's beautiful."

~ Fritz Perls

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, loss or the legacy of trauma, our work together will focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment from which I aim to support you to face the challenges you may be experiencing as you cope with everyday life.

I am currently unable to take on new psychotherapy clients but please do get in touch to discuss how we may be able to work together using Gestalt and CranioSacral Therapy combined.
